NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination Scheduled Amid Massive Security Overhaul, Telegram Access Curtailed
The National Testing Agency has scheduled the NEET UG 2026 re-examination for June 21 after the May 3 paper was cancelled due to leaks in Rajasthan. With CBI investigation, strict security measures including air force transport, CRPF escorts, AI-enabled CCTV, and Telegram restrictions, authorities aim to secure the exam process amid ongoing student concerns.
The decision to conduct a re-examination comes alongside an unprecedented security escalation across examination logistics. The Indian Air Force has deployed C-17 aircraft for the transport of sensitive examination materials, while the Central Reserve Police Force has been assigned escort duties to ensure secure movement and handling of question papers. Examination centres are being secured under a four-layer surveillance system incorporating closed-circuit television monitoring, artificial intelligence-enabled tracking, and biometric verification systems. The entire process is also reported to be under direct oversight from the Prime Minister’s Office.
In parallel, authorities have imposed restrictions on Telegram access until June 22 in an effort to curb the circulation of fraudulent question paper leaks and illegal sales networks targeting aspirants. The platform restrictions are aimed at disrupting organized digital channels allegedly involved in spreading fake examination content.
Meanwhile, students across the country continue to face operational difficulties, including technical glitches in admit card downloads and delays in refund processing. The National Testing Agency has assured corrective measures and stated that dedicated helplines remain active to address candidate grievances in real time.
The controversy has placed the future of more than 55,000 medical seats under intense scrutiny, underscoring the high stakes involved in one of India’s most competitive medical entrance examinations.
The unfolding situation highlights significant vulnerabilities in examination security systems while prompting one of the most extensive logistical and technological overhauls ever implemented for a national-level entrance test.
